Last Friday, February 20th, I had the immense pleasure of visiting a school in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. The Lunchtime Knitting Club leader, Ms Kost introduced Project Itty Bitty to her students. She invited me to come by and I was thrilled to be part of their group and all that creativity for that short but sweet lunch hour.
I have to say, I didn't expect the children to be so young. Ms Kost informed me that her knitting apprentices were as young as grade 2's! That's 7 years old! I was sure that to be so good at knitting at this age, they must have been children who already knew the skill, but to my surprise, most of them were completely new to this art form.
When you take a look at this tremendous school's vision and mission , you can see why these very young children were not only more than ready to take on Project Itty Bitty but also understood how their creativity is helping to impact their community in a powerfully, positive way...
Here is a clip from their website. I highlighted what parts were applicable to HCKids and Project Itty Bitty.

Children truly never cease to amaze. All we have to do is inform, inspire, guide and give them the tools to flourish! Their wings will take them to places they never dreamed of before.
What can you do today to help inspire your child or student?
-Talk about a community or world issue. Ask for their thoughts, their ideas.
-Find out how you can help together. Tell them age is irrelevant! Tell them about these 7, 8 and 9 year olds making a change right here, right now! If they can do it, so can you!
Share your ideas and charitable accomplishments here by posting a comment. It may inspire others to follow suit!
